"Kimchi Meat Pie"
To all Footy fans,
Hi there, I’m Yuri! We might be new to each other, but if there's one thing you should know about me right away, it’s that I live for two things: the thrill of the game and the joy of a great meal.
As we dive into the 2026 season, I’ve been thinking about what makes a match day truly iconic. In Australia, we have the legendary meat pie. In Korea, we have the bold, soul-warming flavors of Kimchi. I thought—why not bring the best of both worlds together?
Today, I’m excited to introduce the perfect pairing for your next footy gathering: The Kimchi Meat Pie. It’s the classic comfort you love, with a spicy, tangy kick that will keep you cheering until the final siren.

Yield: 10–12 pieces
Prep & Cook Time: 40 mins (10 mins for filling, 10 mins for assembly, 20 mins for baking)
Ingredients:
- Stir-fried Kimchi: 300g
- Minced Meat: 500g
- Onion: 1 (large)
- Puff Pastry Sheets: 1kg
- Gravy Sauce: 4 tbsp (Can be substituted with Bone Broth Concentrate or stock)
- Salt: 1 tbsp
- Black Pepper: 1 tbsp
- Optional: Egg wash (1 egg beaten with a splash of water)
Instructions:
-
Sauté the Onion: Finely chop the onion and sauté in a greased pan for about 3 minutes until translucent.
-
Cook the Filling: Add the minced meat to the pan with the onions. Stir in the gravy sauce (or bone broth), salt, and pepper. Simmer for 7 minutes until the flavors are well combined.

-
Prepare the Pastry: Thaw the puff pastry sheets and cut them to fit your pie tins or molds. Line the molds with the pastry.
-
Layer the Flavors: Place two tablespoon of the cooked meat filling and one tablespoon of stir-fried kimchi into each pastry shell.
Tip: Using mozarella cheese adds a deeper, richer cheesy flavor
-
Seal and Vent: Cover with a pastry lid and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to prick small air vents on top. For a beautiful golden finish, brush the tops with a bit of egg wash.
- Bake: Place in a preheated oven at 200°C and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
To all Footy fans, it's time to enjoy Kimchi Meat Pie!!
